Disrupt HR Cardiff – The Launch
15.03.2022
Well….what a night!! After two false starts, we finally got to launch Disrupt HR Cardiff to a fantastic crowd in the Nations Capitol.
Our speakers brought lots of topical issues to the fore, with a dash of humour and some great energy. There was a fantastic atmosphere and Tramshed was buzzing with excited conversation.
Speaker Highlights
We started the evening with some quickfire maths, courtesy of Ian Timbrell – 17 times table in 5 minutes? No problem.
Ffion Jones talked about how grown ups really behave in groups – temper tantrums included (watch this video and see how many personality traits you can attribute within your own team!)
Yusuf Ibrahim guided us through our potential unconscious biases and questioned the lack of diversity in positions of power. Why are ethnic minorities still not recognised as equally as their white counterparts? Outrageous statistics and an outrageously good talk.
The only way to find out if you can trust someone is to trust them… Gethin Nadin guided us expertly through this notion, exploring why we should preserve our faith in the human spirit and the willingness to ultimately do the right thing.
Alison Payne began her talk with the proclamation ‘You are all AMAZING!’ An exploration through feeling the fear and doing it anyway, all be it from our comfort zone, got everyone in good spirits.
Melinda Mulcahy encouraged us to embrace curiosity – using it to prevent stress, make better choices and ultimately create more positive outcomes!
Our own Pip Gwynn took on doubt, in fact she praised doubt and showed us how to leverage it in our favour. We are changing the narrative and setting potential free…
Ginny Baillie got us thinking long and hard about the real value of our meetings. Bored and planning what you want for dinner? Not when we meet like this!
